ErgoMotions
is poised to become a world-class
organization that will:
• Develop a global team to satisfy
a global marketplace
• Produce the highest quality
and most reliable products
• Deliver an affordable line
of products
• Employ people with special
needs to develop ADA market products
Products and Services
ErgoMotions will continue to design
and develop ergonomic computer related
products for the target markets.
Future models and adaptations will
set the standard for leading edge
features and technology. Our products
are designed to be technically complete
and comfortable after long hours
of use. This sole concept will be
applied to all of the products designed
and engineered by ErgoMotions. These
operations relate directly to the
use of the Company’s products:
working postures, repetitive movements,
work related musculoskeletal disorders,
workplace layout, safety and health.

Workers’ and Employers’
Needs
According to the International Telecommunications
Union, there are more than 590 million
computer users in the world; of
these, 190 million are in the United
States. The market for computer
workstations includes both the users
of home and business offices. The
primary target markets for our products
include workers who spend long days
at the computer. Employers who make
purchasing decisions for the office
recognize the need for a more comfortable
and safe work environment.
Occupational Health and Safety
Administration reports that repetitive
stress injuries account for 52%
of all worker compensation claims
each year and cost U.S. businesses
between fifteen and twenty billion
dollars annually. This shows a significant
demand for our product as a solution
to offset costs and increase worker
productivity. Computer usage in
the work environment has caused
an increase in repetitive stress
injuries due to a lack of appropriate
musculoskeletal support in the design
of office workspaces. The U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics reported over
10,000 injuries in 2004 related
to typing and computer use with
the average amount of time missed
from those injuries being twenty
days. The result is a growing concern
among employers to redesign the
workplace with the use of ergonomics
in order to create a safer, more
efficient environment for their
employees while also reducing costs
associated with work-related injuries.
Individual workers are not likely
to make the investment in a new
workstation, especially given the
initial cost involved. Employers
or managers responsible for purchasing
new office equipment are also concerned
with the cost of work-related injuries.
The marketing efforts will focus
on the purchase-decision makers
at companies whose employees spend
long hours at the computer and have
made it a priority to minimize health
risks associated with employees’
daily tasks.
Within the worker and employer
segment, efforts will be concentrated
on a niche market found in the computer
and technology field. The computer
and technology sector not only has
the need for improved workstations,
they are known for being innovators
and early adaptors that champion
consumer electronics breakthroughs
and new technologies. This group
will see the benefits and the competitive
advantage gained through such a
workstation much more clearly than
the general population. Innovators
such as those found in this niche
are typically less price-sensitive
in their purchasing behaviors and
exhibit a greater readiness to try
new products and learn how to utilize
them best.
ADA-Compliant “Custom”
Workstations
This market currently has minimal
coverage and can best be described
as “newly developing”
or “emerging.” Since
most manufacturers trying to appeal
to religious computer users in the
past, have focused only on those
target markets with the most potential.
Categories like the ADA custom fit
workstation segments have been long
overlooked. People with disabilities
naturally extend across all demographic,
economic, and geographic ranges;
disabilities afflict the rich and
poor equally, men, women, and children
alike, and are as prevalent in the
country as in the city. This is
a formidable market segment which
may in fact hold more promise than
the others in part because it has
been historically underserved. There
are several obvious reasons to include
this particular target market into
ErgoMotions’ initial segmentation
and strategy:
• Arguably, people with special
needs are the only segment that
truly needs proper ergonomic workstations
• Government assistance can
make individually-customized units
affordable for all disabled people
• Current regulations mandate
ADA accessibility to all environments,
so the market will remain “open”
indefinitely
Disabled People’s
Needs
This segment of the general population
has a unique requirement for integrating
technology and productivity with
healthy seating. There are many
dangers associated with being immobilized,
including deep-vein thrombosis (DVT).
According to the American Heart
Association, up to two million Americans
are affected annually by DVT, a
blood clot that forms in one of
the large veins (usually in the
lower limbs) that leads to either
partially or completely blocked
circulation. Of those who develop
pulmonary embolism (PE), a serious
and potentially fatal complication
of DVT, up to 200,000 will die,
which is more casualties than result
from breast cancer and AIDS combined.
According to recent federal research
published in the Journal of the
American Medical Association, it
is estimated that DVT and PE collectively
cost the U.S. hospital system more
than $860 million. The use of an
ergonomically designed workstation
can facilitate blood circulation
by utilizing the articulating calf
support, among other features. This
segment’s need for the ErgoChair
is both pressing and self-evident.
Strategy and Implementation
Summary
ErgoMotions’ primary strategy
is to focus on creating a line of
products that suit the needs of
the target markets. The success
of the Company hinges on whether
or not the Licensee’s can
accept the application of Ergonomics
into their own respective fields
and generate the necessary customer
interest. The Company will concentrate
on the core business of selling
intellectual property to established
manufacturers with a history of
quality products and name recognition.
Until now, the Company’s
existence and its strategy have
been based on the research and development
of this product. The Company’s
product is now complete or nearing
completion in every regard. The
Company’s strategy will now
shift focus to a license-based model.
